About Jordans
How many more vulnerable people will be convicted ?
We are often asked like many other appeal firms , who are we and what cases have we succeeded with .
Whilst this sort of self promotion is not something we are comfortable with , we do set out on this page some of the past cases in which we have succeeded with and those we have taken to the Court of Appeal .
Please remember however that some times due to reporting restrictions we can only refer to the case by a letter such as R v F .
The case of Ian Lawless demonstrates the real danger of pushing vulnerable persons through our criminal justice system .
In the Lawless case working with the CCRC detialed investigaitons were carried out by Professor Gisli Gudjonnson who reached a view that the appellant had made up his confession and it was unreliable . With this being the only evidence in the case the conviciton was unsafe . One might ask why this wasn't addressed at Trial ?
R v F - if in doubt apply , apply , apply .
The case of R v F demonstrates a key point for every appellant , if you are innocent and determined then no matter how many times you get knocked back keep fighting . In F the appellant had been turned down by the Court of Appeal and the CCRC , however he kept pushing his cause and we were able to persuade the commission to reinvestigate and appoint a fresh medical expert . The result was that the appellants conviciton was quashed .
